HOME
After 6 hours of flying I’m home (well I have been for about 5 hours, but I spent most of that vegging out since I was exhausted!)
On the plane ride, or at least for a third of it, this nice, elderly, abuela-type spanish woman sat next to me. Assuming I was hispanic, she continually spoke with me in Spanish. Thankfully, due to about 3 years of high school Spanish I was able to understand her, but I had a lot of trouble talking to her :( I kept forgetting random words (like I needed to say “before” but all I could remember was despues, which is “after) Plus this whole thing got even worse because her son, who knew English, wouldn’t translate back what I was saying to her, even though she insisted on carrying on a conversation with me. It all ended with her dismissing my Spanish skills with “Que Lastima” and I swore I felt all my Spanish teachers looking down upon me from somewhere :(
Also, I nearly finished “Julie and Julia” the book on which the movie was based off of. Though I’m not sure reading a book about decadent French cooking is the best idea when all you’ve had to eat is cereal and a bagel. Luckily my mom packed me some milano cookies, and I pretended they were ladyfingers whenever Julie Powell talked about MaTAoFc’s section on desserts.
Tomorrow should be exciting! First day of my second rotation! and Naeem’s coming in the afternoon! Yay for things looking up!!
